Cracked Front Lower Valance
I have a 96 SL500 and as you might expect, when I first got the car I did not realize how low the front valance under the bumper was so when I was pulling in to a parking spot, I cracked the fiberglass under the right driving light in two places.
Question: Has anyone done this and taken it to a fiberglass repair shop and had it repaired and repainted? I beleive that cost for the entire new valance is around $1,000.00 dollars without labor or paint. Any recommendations? Thanks |

Can you post a picture? Go to an auto paint store and they should sell a tube of something made precisely for such repairs, unless you've more or less demolished it.

I'll post a picture this weekend. No, it's just two cracks. I'll go to NAPA, they usually have more of what you are talking about then the Auto Parts.

Not auto parts, auto paint, but NAPA might work as they sometimes have an auto paint department, although limited compared to the bigger stores.

I've had mine repaired. There are a number of "mobile" bumper repair outfits in the yellow pages. They come to your car ( your house ), remove the damaged parts, take them to their shop for repair, then return and re-install.
Mine cost $350 and it had quite a nasty hole and scrape. They did an excellent job. Paint matched perfect. P.S. I live in a large US city.
