Probably a unique part. I have one on my SL, but it seems like it is the same thread as the wing nut holding the top on the PS reservoir of my old sedan. You may be struck using a metric wing nut from ACE Hardware.

I know < I got the wing nut, but trying to get back to original as in the photos and original brochures, certainly not critical but just trying to get the ol gal back to her original glory. A nice shinny brass fitting is just so much more proper than wing nut
and yes I am a NUT

it seems that nut (and the ps lid) are the 1st things to go on the mb's in the yard here, ive only seen wingnuts (I got one off a '76 115 for mine, it replaced the generic looking one that was on it originally)

good luck.

ps- does it list it on the EPC? maybe you would try looking back at 60's cars, mabye you could find a part number off a 111 or 113 chassis or something, id imagine the threads are identical.

If it's brass and you really feel like you have to have it, go to a machine shop and have them make you one. It shouldn't cost more than $20. Brass is easy to machine and it'll last just about forever.

good idea, but the quest for original is something I like to do, not sure why , soooo, the plea remains, you knacker yard junkies, keep an eye out for one , help an addict out...

Before you pay a machine shop to fab one I would suggest you try a company called Fastenal at www.fastenal.com/ They have locations in most metropolitian areas. I would not be surprised to find that they have exactly what you are looking for. I have been told that they have things that no one else has.

Noticed the other day that my 73 450SL also has this brass fastener.
