RPM dropping at idle

I have a 82 380sl she runs well on the open road. But here is my question .After she warms up and is hot when I come to a stop I see the idle dropping down to a point where it sound like it want to stall out and then jump back up to 5 thousand rps, What do I need to get this back to running at 5 thousand rpm all the time

Pete,

Sounds like you need a new or rebuilt idle speed control. Not an uncommon problem.

Pete- I think you meant five HUNDRED RPM, not 5 thousand. Ned

Yes you are correct 500 not 5 thousand
