removing molding (R107)
Hi All,
What's the correct procedure of removing the door molding the short molding behind the door molding and the threshold molding (the chrome that goes all the way from the front wheel to the rear wheel)? Thanks! Greg

its been a while, but I believe there is one screw holding it on either in the front or back, then the rest you sort of pull off. Or perhaps it was on a sliding bracket... I'm getting confused with the R107 W123 differences.

not sure what piece you are talking about? The chrome threshold has screws at each end

On my car that piece has been loose on the driver's side for the 19 years I have owned the car! There is a cryptic instruction in the chassis manual (68-500) on how to remove it. If you feel under the rear fender, there should be a stud sticking through with a nut on it. If you remove that nut, apparently you can slide the trimstrip forward and it will come off. Let us know if it works!

Well, I was not clear, I asked about three different moldings.
I removed the threshold molding: a Philips in the front, a 7mm nut in the back (in the wheel well). Then prying of the plastic pins (with two putty knifes). I have not removed the door molding or the short (9" ?) molding in the back.

Each molding has a nut that must be removed in order to "pull" the molding off.
On the door, the nut is hidden behind the door rubber weatherstrip. Gently peel off the weatherstrip and you will see the nut that holds the door trim. |

Of course, 3/4 of the time the nut and stud are rusted off...

So true... I never bothered replacing them after I broke the majority of them on Norm, no problems. Yet another wonderfully over engineered part.
