What modifications are you going to do to the 428? I have rebuilt 2 ford 460's and I have to say your best bet will be an aluminum intake and a serious port and polish and valve job on the motor, $ for $ those things will net you the most HP other than N.O.S. ohh and of course new cam and lifters (I would recommend the Lunati Vodoo cam)

sl427,

I have been looking into installing a Continental Mk 8 4.6 lt. DOHC engine in my 450 slc. Ford put these engines in the Mk 8 from 1993 to 1998. They are called a Teksid engine. Hot rodders day they are good for about 1200 hp.

You can locate these engines through www.iaai.com These are where insurance cos. sell their scrap cars. Find the 'locator' bar on the top of the page. Enter Continental Mk8, or what ever kind of car you are interested in, and your zip code. When the page comes up click on the red box at the right end of the vin no. A window will open telling you about the car and what kind of engine it has. Other Ford cars had these engines and some bigger DOHC and SOHC engines.
