Brake upgrade?

What, if any, brake upgrades are available for the 1987 560sl? I had the brakes gone over before I bought it, and they checked out good at a dealership (I didn't buy it there)

I have an SUV and 2 trucks that stop better than the 560 does....but it's not about stopping, it's all about going fast!!

Sounds like you have some other problem. The 560SL should stop very well. It may not be as boosted as other vehicles but it is a very powerful set of brakes. The 560SL uses the largest rotor that will fit in a 15" wheel with a 4 piston caliper. I have put on brakes from a later 96 SL600 but it also requires larger 16" wheels.

The SL600 breaks also appear to require more pedal force when installed in a 560SL or possibly that is a result of my 200Lb of engine weight increase. Do not confuse pedal force with breaking power. The Germans like a little less boost. This gives the driver more control.
