Soft Top Replacement
So, I am planning to replace the soft top on my '94 SL500. I see what looks like decent canvas on eBay for ~$400, but what should I expect to pay an installer, that is if I don't do it myself? Does anyone know a good, reasonably priced installer in SW Boston/RI?

For those contemplating doing the top on a R129 yourself or are just curious as to how it's done, I've posted a step by step video at...
http://www.sendspace.com/file/0m3x4p This link will be valid for only a limited time. It's a large 172 mB mpeg file, so it may take a while to download.

I wish that I would have had a video like that when I did my 107 top. Heck, I may MAKE one while doing my other car.
The 129 is no doubt a superior car (at least in performance, features, and construction) to the 107, but the top has always scared me off of a used one.

R129 soft top replacement
Al, I replaced my soft top last summer using a training dvd that MB used
to train thier mech. The job is lengthy but not hard, the most difficult part is removing the adhesive from all the surfaces. If you email me your address I'll be glad to lend you my dvd. caddykidd1@yahoo.com Sincerely, Phil PS Buy the most expensive top you can afford, It,s worth it |
