It will be hard press to find one with very high mileage on this car since most of them are pampered machine. The highest mileage I ran across was on E-bay awhile back with a little over 100K but it was a very early model. The engine is very solid but it is known to have head gasket problem. You may want to make sure to find one with the gasket already replaced. The roof mechanism may be problematic for the earlier model, do a search on this topic and you will get some info. Other than that I do not know if there is anything you should be aware of............except buy one from a dealer with Starmark and not from E-bay or private owner. Repair cost on this car can put tears in your eyes.

The up keep costs me no money, just the regular maint. It is parts and labor. For some strange reason, everything for the SL is expensive. I guess they (the dealers) think everyone drives a SL has money coming out of thin air. If you are considering a SL, you should look at the later models instead. The 107 is a very nice car, but nowhere near as nice as the 129. Test drive one and you will know what I mean. Anyway, good luck on your hunt and decision.
