Firing order for 1996 500sl
I got an engine code the other day on the way to work. Number 4 cylinder igniton was the code number. I tried looking up the firing order on that losey Mitchell repair software I bought from E-bay but no luck. Can anyone point me to the firing order and which cylinder is number 1?

Firing order is normally on one of the valve covers. The cylinders are numbered 1 2 3 4 from front to back on the right side and 5 6 7 8 on the left.

Thanks Dr Benz. I couldn't find that anywhere on the valve covers or the intake manifold. Now I need to check #4 coil and plug for the misfire. Thanks again.

On the last M119 that I looked at, the firing order was indicated on the right bank (passenger side for left hand drive vehicles) valve cover. Depending on how clean your engine is, it may be obscured by grime.
Regards PS I think the firing order is: 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2 You should check this, because my reference is my memory. |
