Solid subframe mounts

Like so many, my front subframe mounts in an '83 380SL are completely shot. I have the engine and subframe out of the car and have been thinking of possibly machining some solid mounts. I've searched about everything, and there is very little on the subject relating to Mercedes.

In a traditional car with a frame, the suspension is essentially solid, and it would seem that mounting a subframe directly to the chassis would have the same effect.

My search brought me to this video which would seem to validate the idea - Camaro Solid Subframe Mount Video - YouTube

Part of the reason for considering this route is to not have to change mounts again and change the spacing between the chassis and the subframe.

What am I missing?
