280SL Euro stalls at stops when AC is on

My 1985 280SL Euro ( 110 engine) has started stalling at stops when the AC is on. No problem when the AC is off. Any ideas what is causing this and any easy fix or take it to a shop? Thanks Desert

Thanks for the reply....In gear at stop without AC 6k, out of gear at stop without AC 9k.....With AC on, in gear at stop 6k, out of gear 7k. What do you think? A little low? and if so how do I adjust the idle. I've never worked on this engine before other than plugs and plug wires plus an AC idler pully but I hate to take it all the way across Tucson just to adjust the idle, also I have noticed that the linkage is quite complicated so maybe it's best left to an expert? Thanks, Desert

The idle should speed up when the compressor is turned on, my M110 does at least. Check the vacuum line from the distributor to the electric switch over valve. No sure where that valve is on a R107 but on the W123 its on the drivers fender well. That switch should have constant vacuum from the intake at it and when the compressor turns on it should activate that switch to send vacuum to the advance part of the distributor to raise the idle speed.

Thanks....that sounds relitivly simple, I'll try that and see if it works, if not I'll take it to a shop that has been recommended for the older MB engines, it's probably due for a tune up soon anyway....Thanks, Desert
