My 280 has an oil cooler as part of the rad assembly.

Does the 380?

BTW.....if it's a 280SL....then it is guaranteed to be a Euro.

The upper hose inlets are on opposite sides. As Nobby stated the 280SL has an oil cooler while the US model 380SL does not.

radaitor for the 280sl

Euro yes, i picked the car up a few months ago thru the forum. Many thanks it worked out well. Now I am starting to go into it the radi. Is oem and very green so maybe a recore or replace but the cost of an identical one is painful. Thats why I 'am looking for an option. Also maybe some issues with wur hav'nt gone there yet. Thanks for any ideas.

What Nobby was saying is it is not necessary to add Euro to the 107 280SL as all of them here in the US/CA are Euro.

Have the radiator assessed by shop. I don't know of a US model that will work as a replacement.

The 280 rad is a great candidate for re-coring. You will end up with more cooling rows and more fins making it better than OEM.

It cost me $305 for a re-core.

The car usually takes 2 to 3 attemps and you do not t ouch the gas pedel. Then it has to sit and warm up. When the car gets hot 80C it seem that the idel goes to low and sometimes stalls but starts right back up and goes down the road just fine. On another front I have done 4 rotors pads frt.shocks subframe mounts, motor mounts, alittle exgaust work new old radio(europa) P/antenna .I was also hoping to do rear subframe mounts aswell. Sooo... springs coming would like to have it driving well any toughts will help. thanks

wur?

No black smoke. In fact I think its running lean? Ifyou try to drive it too soon when you hit the gas it hesitates, let off it comes back to idel.

Do you know how badly it was modified to meet US emission standards? (If at all) I have seen some, especially in California, that had O2 sensors and accompanying control units installed.

What Rowdie said....but a quick check of the plugs for colour and then check the cold and hot fuel pressures.

Remove spark plugs COLD....I already have one helicoil from a former owner / halfassed mechanic.

O2 senor and baby cats or juggling cats!

As I have really started to crawl thru it. I have seen the mod.s when I saw the O2 senor followed the wire to nowhere which is Ok with me .I dont have an emissions test to pass..When I got the car a certificate came with it for the EPA stating it meets the standards dated 1984. The cat.s look like the size of a soda can located in the frt. Pipe which looks like 1984ish thats next year I hope. The strong point of the car is that its only had 2owners and the "bones" of the car are good 1 paint job and a good one at that. One small fender bender L/F. So thats why I figure it should make a nice driver.

If it has an O2 sensor you may need to reconnect it. Unless it was installed just for show there will be other parts that control the system Lamda controller, frequency valve etc. Neither of mine have the O2 sensor so I really don't know where to go from here.
