Brake pressure sensor assistance please
I am trying to locate a new master cylinder pressure sensor for my 1976 450SL. I found the part number 004 542 30 17, but no one seems to have it. ATE seems to be where most got it from, and it is discontinued. I found one place where the ATE # is 03.3525-9108.2. I have seen a cross reference to a Porsche 911 part number, but can't seem to confirm it is the correct one. can anyone give me the correct Porsche # and confirm it is the same as the Mercedes part?
Thanks. |

Do you have an electrical schematic for the circuit, and/or can you describe the function of the switch in question?
The online drawings and descriptions are confusing and contradictory. Yes, there is a Porsche # online; it is 911 606 401 00 (yoyo). |

No schematic. It is supposed to measure pressure in the master cylinder and turns on a red idiot light on the dash. I saw that on yoyo but can't seem to confirm it anywhere else. There is availability on the Porsche part, but not on the mercedes, for some strange reason.

In all practicality, the light isn't needed. If brake pressure becomes unbalanced due to a leak, you will feel the pedal drop. I haven't come across a car ( regardless of make ) where the light was on and pressures OK unless there was a leak, it was fixed and ,on some cars, the switch reset.

My view is essentially that of 320's. Mid 1976 that light was deleted; if the switch is mechanically intact and not leaking, it may be unplugged and/or the bulb removed from the light. If the switch is leaking, it may be removed and the port plugged.
