1986 560sl Headlights won't go off

My 1986 560sl headlights won't go off after the car is shut down. The headlight switch works fine when the car is running or the key is at the ON position. Only when I turn off the car, the headlights will stay ON no matter which position the headlight switch is at.

Any of you experienced the same problem before or any idea of where to start the diagnosis?

Many thanks,

I will let others chime in on the diagnosis, but from experience you're looking at a faulty headlight switch that will need replacing. Send me a picture once removed, pretty sure I have one.

Still not getting the problem solved. Replaced the headlight switch with a used one from eBay, but didn't help. Also disconnected the alarm system module, didn't see any difference neither. The headlights now still act weird as before. When I turn on the car I can trun ON and OFF the headlights with no issues. Only when I turn off the car, the headlights will come ON no matter which position the headlight switch is at. All other lights seemed working fine as they should be.

Any idea where I should start to take another look at this problem?

Many thanks!
