Poor Gas Mileage?

I'm getting a bit over 13 mpg out of my '85 380. Any thoughts re the poor mileage? Thanks ahead for any thoughts and/or suggestions.

Is that city driving?

Have you changed your air filter lately?

How many miles are on the fuel-injectors? They could be leaking.

I'm getting the same, but I have a K&N I cleaned and oiled not too long ago, and I have brand new fuel injectors... Some people suggested it might be my timing, but I haven't gotten it checked yet

The 380 SL's were advertised to get 16-22 mpg, so you're below the range.

The 450 SL's were advertised to get between 12-19 mpg, so 13 wouldn't be unacceptable.

Would you know what the 560 was rated?

Thanks,

The 380's motor has 97K on it and the air filter is clean. And yes, all city driving so far with the heater on. Sounds as though I might need to check the injectors.

I get about 15-16MPG around town in my 500SL and 18-19 on the highway. Noticed the SIGNIFICANT improvement to 18-19 from 14-15 on the highway mileage a couple months ago after running a couple cans of Lubro-Moly injector and valve cleaner through the engine. Usually run at speeds of 70-85 on the interstate, so I consider this pretty decent since the car weighs nearly 4,000 lbs.

Is this good mileage?

My 1980 450SL gets 18-19mpg highway at 70mph. I run it with all Redline lubricants, 89 octane and z-max.
