Best Place to Have Seats Redone?

Can anyone recommend a place to send my seats? They need a full refurbishment....I thought about sending them to Budsbenz in Georgia. Any thoughts?

You can buy new replacement leather at

www.gahh.com

and have the skins shipped to you. My local dealer told me their quality is perfect.

Thumbs down

I have gahh skins and I wouldn't call them perfect; the die seems to wear off them pretty quickly.

Duuude, you are shipping your seats from Southern California to Virginia?

They must be a very special shop.

I find it hard to believe that you couldn't find a competent shop here in Southern California.

I live on the EAST COAST in the Washington D.C. area. My seats are being shipped from Indiana as I have bought an entire interior from a salvaged car. I am doing a CUSTOM upholstery job like a hot rod, therefore I must use a CUSTOM upholstery shop to do the work. I insist on Mercedes quality so I have researched the best shops in the Northern Virginia area and decided on the one I mentioned earlier due to their high level of ABILITY to give me what I want. Hope that clears up any confusion.

E Dream, I live around the corner from you Alexandria....this shop in Fairfax you mentioned, do they use MB pads or their own and do they specialize in MB or is this more of a specialist shop. Also, the quote I've got is $1500 for both seats, leather, new pads. What sort of pricing are they giving you?

Thanks.

PS, have you found a decent mechanic in the area?

On the upholstery thing, I would just give them a call and ask them to price the job. My job is a totally custom thing and not relevent price- wise. The best mechanic I have found for older MBs is RC Imports in Rockville MD.
The owner Rick is a great guy and lots of club members use his services. On the web rc-imports.com

seats

I bought new MB Tex covers for both the front and back seats in my 450slc for about $1,000 and had them put on by a local car seat guy for $100. They look as good as new. Well, they are new aren't they?

Richard,

You can buy the leather upholstery on eBay for about $650 (good feedback on the seller), or about the same price from Performance Products. Seat pads should run about $170.00 for each seat and it shouldn't cost $500.00 to install the new upholstery. In fact, that's one job most folks can do themselves with a little effort.

Thanks all...if I'm paying only $500 in labor, and that appears to be the case, to do my seats,I don't think that's such a bad deal. A 1st class job at home would be a challenge for me.

By the way, for those that are not as mechanically challenged, I highly recommend **************.com I've gotten several kits from them and they are great.

Richard,

If you're paying $500.00 in labor, you're getting ripped. I only paid $300.00 to get a soft top put on and from my experience that's a whole lot more complicated and time consuming than doing seats. But that's only my opinion.
