Buttons in rear of 78 SLC

Near the armrests for the rear seats of my SLC are push buttons. When I removed the panels to replace a window motor, I noticed that the buttons are connected to a vacuum line. Anyone have an idea what these buttons do?

These buttons are to release the front seat locks. If you remove the front seats and look under the back near the hinge you will see a small vacuum pot that controls a hook lever that prevents the back part of the seat from coming forward while the car is running.
