Hi Again, After reading almost every question and reply to syntheic oil I still need one definitive answer. My 560SL, 1886 134K is only driven about 100 miles per week. The trips may be short 15 mi or longer 40-60 miles. Since contamination seems to be an issue with regular oil will changing to synthetic protect the engine any better? What about other Synthetic fluids? My main concern is not necessarily time or miles between changes but best for the engine and other components.
Thnaks for all of your help on my other issues they are all resolved and I love driving my car, Monty

Given your car usage, oil changes are probably more important than the oil itself. Given the age and mileage of the car, I would use a good quality semi-synthetic and change oil and filter at least two, probably three times a year.
