Question Idleing rough

ok here goes, I have a 1985 380 sl and it idles high at around 1200 rpm in park. this used to happen only once in a while but now it is everytime. and when i try to accelerate it almost boggs out and the it starts to go slowly there has been some black smoke coming out if the exhaust i dont think it is firing on all 8 cylinderseither. Thanks in advance for any replies

This is a tough one from a distance.

It sounds like you have lost either the OVP relay or the lambda/idle relay. This would cause a both a high idle and a loss of enrichment.

Did you work on something before this happened? Or did it develop gradually? Sorry, I had to ask.

If you disconnect the idle air valve at the front of the engine, does the idle change? If you don't know how to do this, you need to find a shop that understands these cars.

Good luck.
