Hi ItalianBenz,

I have a 1995 E420.

How much lower and stiffer would it be?

Can I use my stock shocks and struts (for now) ?

I know I need to have the shop install them, but what would I expect to pay for the install?

Thanks and Regards,

Steve

coils continued

Hi whats up. Well Im not sure. What they would charge I would
say maybe 150.00 labor . It is some labor to do. Im asking $200.00.. You can install them on your E420. With the stock shocks. But I would rec down the line some bilstein sports.
If you do want the coil springs I would rec pickinng up some
#2 spring pad for the fronts and #1 spring pads for the rears.
They set up works great.

Well take care

Guido- since the 500E has a self-levelling rear suspension, aren't the rear coil-springs not applicable to the 300E or 400E (no self-levelling)?

Would the rear coils work for the rear self-levelling of a 300TE wagon?

Thanks,
:-) neil

SPRINGS

HEY NEIL HOWS IT GOING. tHE SPRINGS ARE NO DIFFERENT .
ALL 124 CHASIS YOU CAN INTERCHANGE THE SPRINGS EXCEPT FOR THE 4 MATIC A TOTALLY DIFFERENT SPRING.
IM SUPPOSED TO GET MY H&RS THIS WEEK. IM RUNNING A BEEFER SPRING RIGHT NOW THEN STOCK ITS A LORINSER COIL OUT OF A 400E. I EXPERIMENT AND MIS MATCH SPRINGS TO FIND THE ULTIMATE SETTING. BUT I WANT A MATCH PAIR ALL THE WAY AROUND THATS WHY IM GOING WITH THE H&RS.

Guido- be real careful with the H&R's in the rear. If you're rubbing tires now, you will definitely be doing so with the H&R's.

My friend at Brabus said either get the Eibach matched front & rear or of course the Brabus springs, which won't rub, esp. with the wide tires you're running.

Best of luck,
:-) neil

In reponse to your for sale ad.

May ask how much a set of H+R's cost retail / wholesale?

Exactly what you have now?

I assume you have a full set of bone stock 500e springs ? What is the clock on them?

From what I can tell this would be a perfect fitment for my 92 300CE which is getting a full ground effects kit installed soon.

Let me know if yours are sold or not?

Hi There not sold yet. I supposed to get my H&R's this friday.
There costing me my shop price around $400.00 they retail i thik for like 500.00 or osmething close to to that. Im asking $200.00
for my OEM 500 Coils they would go great on a light application such as a coupe. They have approx 80K mile on them. Coils do go bad. Ive been a tech for 14 yrs. I cant I have replace a set of wbad or worn out coil springs. Not unless a customer hit or ran into something. Let me know if your intersted still.

Hi All,
Just a note on Neil's message regarding the suitability of 500E springs in a 300TE wagon.
In my experience they would work if one was not to exceed the load rating of the 500E. I believe the 300TE is rated to carry several hundred pounds more than its sedan counterpart.
I do not see the need to offer an engineering explaination for this since I believe the intuition is enough.
As an indication of the viability of this hypothesis, consider the following. As you know, Eibach offers a prokit for 300E, 400E and 300TE. In each case the spring rates for front springs are linear and constant (300E~346Fr 348Rr). In the sedans, the rear springs are also linear and constant. In the wagon the rear spring starts at 34x and increases to 5xx. Eibach claims that their springs are 20% stiffer than OEM. Hence reducing the Eibach rates by 20% would offer a good approximation for OEM specs.

Guido- do you have rear MB Sportline springs you can measure?

I'd like to see if the 500E rear springs are shorter than the rear SportLine springs?

Regardless, can you measure the lenght of the front and rear springs and post?

If they are shorter, I'd be interested.

Thanks,
:-) neil

Hi neil

Hmm I emailed you not sure if it went through. Soory didnt back to you sooner Ive been swamped at work. I see your looking to buy that 500E good luck . Then will get together. I rounded up a few 500E owners here in socalif.

Ok now as for the 500E coil springs. I didnt have a set of sportline ones. But I can tell you this much I have a set of Ibach springs. The 500E's sit the same height. Also I have a set of rear lorinser springs. The 500E ones sit about 30mm lower than the lorinser. So all in all they sit pretty low. Since We delt with each other before. If your sitll interested you can have the coil springs for $150.00. Let me know if your interested I have some other inquirys also take care. Good luck with the 500
