Talking FOR TRADE: OM617.952 SLS Engine

OM617.952 engine with SLS, pulled from a 1984 300TD. Will trade for the non-SLS version.
Good engine, approximately 270k miles on it. Was running nicely after a diesel purge, prior to being pulled from the donor car.
It's going in my 300D sedan if nobody takes me up on the offer, but I would hate to see the SLS go to waste.
Located on the Mendocino coast in NorCal.

I have a good spare 160000 miles 617 turbo sitting here and it would be good to have the sls instead but you are to far away.

But is is great that you are thinking about the efficiency and better use of the SLS for the people who are in need .

Later J

Agreed, I'd just add SLS to the sedan...

I had considered that, but it seems like a lot of extra work. I do still have all of the SLS equipment -- some components may still be on the parts car but I would include it in the trade for $100.

617 engine trade

Do you have compression test figures on that engine? I have a non-turbo 3.0L engine I could trade.

617 engine trade

Actually, I also have a non-SLS turbo motor I could trade, both it and the non-turbo motor are in running cars at the moment.

Unfortunately I don't have compression test figures. I can promise you that it ran, but the previous owner had trouble starting it. The car had electrical problems with the starter and quite possibly the glow plugs. The PO had to hotwire the starter and the glow light often didn't come on. Once it was running the idle was smooth as butter.

*BUMP* Last chance offer for trade. I plan to have this engine in by the end of January at the latest, if no takers.

I will even include the old N/A engine in the trade. Recent (meaning "not driven many miles since") valve adjustment, diesel purge (replaced both filters), oil change and glow plug service (new Bosch plugs, reamed chambers). Starts with a touch of the key and idles very smooth. Needs different injectors, as the ones it has are 135BAR (PO installed a Toyota turbo, now gone).

If you end up parting the engine, I would be interested in the head. I kick myself all the times I let turbo SLS heads slip thru my fingers. My last mod will be SLS on all 4 corners ... M100's H-P suspension installed down the road.

I'm open to a head trade if someone else is willing to bring me a non-SLS head and do the work, but few are willing make the drive to my little corner of California.
