WTB: Used Bilstein's for W124

I know this is kind of weird asking for used struts, but I've had good luck with used Bilsteins. Scored a JY set for my 190D for peanuts, and they've been awesome. Hoping to avoid paying $500 for a new set, I can get KYB's for $175 from ******** with the rebate.. but I'd rather have used Bilstein's over new KYB. Obviously if they don't rebound throw em in the trash lol.

Figured it couldn't hurt to ask, thanks.

You could try car-part.com this searches participating salvage yards.

Also have a look at the R129 as they use much of the 124 suspension. Be aware that early 129 had smaller bolts between the strut and spindle. This shouldn't be a problem as when fitting an AMG kit the instructions say to drill and install larger bolts.

I've had decent results for a low buck stiffer shock across other brands / makes by cutting open and changing to thicker motorcycle fork oil.

Place the shock on a scale and measure how much force it takes to compress the shock about 1/2"

For most, cut the top tube just below the roll weld, pull everything out. Drain oil , weld in a 1/8" pipe bung, drill making sure all child / burs are removed insert a Schrader valve , fill tube with thicker oil , insert the top and reweld.

Pressurize the shock, test the force on the scale, adjust and you are ready to go. I found 35 or so PSI was stock for a Mustang Fox body front strut.

I think I might still have the struts I removed from my former 300TE when I lowered it. Not sure on the brand but if I have them still they are yours. I was going to take them for scrap next time I have enough.
