WTB W123 Air Filter Housing
I just acquired a 1984 300D Turbo! The previous owner put a K&N style filter in and I'd like to take it back to stock. Looking to buy the filter housing. (Ideally with bracket and mounts, but not a requirement). This is a federal variant.
I'm in Central Florida, so hopefully someone knows where I can find one local to avoid paying a fortune in shipping. Last edited by Gox777; 02-22-2023 at 10:43 PM. |

Thanks for the heads up.
I found there is a 240D sitting in a scrapyard on the other side of Orlando which probably has an air filter housing. I read there is some difference between the 240D housing and the one on my car. Is it just a difference in the lid? Thoughts? |

I have the air filter housing you need on hand. But shipping will indeed not be cheap. PM sent
Air filters housings are completely different for your turbo om617 & a non-turbo (4-cylinder) 240D |

I have one. The turbos have two flavors. Do you know which one you need? You already ruled out the California flavor which came out at the end of 1984 and ended 1985

I looked into it and from what I can tell I need part #011-094-6202. This is for an 84' Turbo. The confusing thing is a lot of websites are using that part number to represent the filter, even though I think it refers to the housing itself. I will also need the tubing (617-094-0482) and scoop (617-094-0411). Also, I was mistaken - I *do* have the old bracket and mounts in there, so I don't need those. For reference, here is what I have going on under the hood: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AslMz6pITNmnjpxKpg_DvEji8e94eA?e=ctJgGe I'm told that the piece the breather hose is connected to was actually fashioned out of the old filter housing. I have to admit I do like the extra space under the hood and I like being able to hear the turbo. My primary concern comes down to making sure I have a filter that does its job in preserving the longevity of my engine. I read somewhere that I can find paper filters that would swap in. Something like this: https://www.hondapartsnow.com/genuine/honda~element~air~cleaner~17220-pk2-661.html Any thoughts about what I should do? |

Fix it right the first time .
There are multiple different part numbers that will suit, I discovered this when my paint shaker OM617T was braking them every three months or so . Someone near you has a junker, take everything at one time including the 'T' bracket . Replace the O-Rings on the oil tubes too unless you like it oily .

Update on my parts search: I have an air filter, hose, scoop, and o-rings on the way to me. I also realized I would need the U-boot connector hose that goes to the turbo and its 2 seals. (previous owner put on a differently shaped connector with no seals).
The connector hose and upper seal are widely available but I'm having a hard time finding the lower seal anywhere. That would be this one: 617-098-03-65 https://mbparts.mbusa.com/oem-parts/mercedes-benz-seal-ring-air-filter-vlrb-6170980365 Any leads on it? EDIT: For anyone else reading this in the future with the same dilemma as me, I believe I found a replacement. This seller is making silicone replacement seals and selling them at $40 a pop.
