WTB: W124 antenna, 1986-1989

As long as it works properly and goes up/down all the way. Thanks!

What is wrong with your antenna?

I am on the same boat. The top portion of my antenna, inside the fender, broke off. If you find one, let me know what you do with the old one.

Motor is shot and doesn't go. Ran 12V to it, no dice.

try www.beckerautosound.com you can get a reman antenna for like $135 OEM. with a core charge for yours I believe.

Otherwise you may be able to fit a universal antenna in there.

Mine has two problems. 1. The switching relay inside the antenna is blown, and 2. the gears for the antenna cable to pull it up or or down, broke, leaving me with no choice but to replace it, but since I almost never listen to the radio, I have no need for replacing mine.

I was thinking of putting on a short antenna form a newer SL or from another car that is only a few inches tall, to me that would be easier and cooler looking than an extended antenna, or I may just get one from a newer benz that is hidden in the bumper.

Either way, you can't go wrong.

Heres the info from that site above...

"A limited quantity of reconditioned antennas models, 6000U and 6000EL, which are found in Mercedes-Benz automobiles are still available for exhange: $135.00 (core required in advance)

We also have in stock belts for the "EL" type antennas as well as genuine Hirschmann replacement masts for Mercedes-Benz and Porsche cars.
(Other masts available by pre-paid special order.)

The 6000U 485/487/488 reconditioned antennas are also available for purchase without a core: $135.00

A limited quantity of fender mounting head assembly kits are available. Specify which body style and antenna model when ordering $8

Speedyturbo,

or anybody for that matter, I am still interested in an antenna for a 300e dead or alive. As long as all the parts are complete and intact.

I am also looking for an antenna unit for my '88 300SEL. The PO removed the motor from the antenna unit, so only the gears are there.

I have an extra antenna, the relay is blown and gears are shot, but the actual motor should work.

I'll test the motor and see if it works. if it does, I'll be willing to give it away.

Ashman.. do you happen to have the small, black colored, toothed rubber band that connects the motor to the plastic gears in good shape for sale? Mine is bad.

Hi Alon,

Is your antenna the Auta 6000EL? If you do, I am willing to buy the top of the antenna that connects the black body of the actual antenna and the fender. I have a drawing in an Acrobat document, if you need further explanation but, I do not have the means to post it here.
TIA

well I have two antenna's. the one in my car which is broken and I dont use the radio anyway, which is the 6000EL.

The other one I have came form a 190E that my friend took out of a car att he stereo shop he works at to replace it because the gears were busted and the mast.

I'll check up on it.

I believe that the extra antenna I have has that rubber band as well.

I'll check into it and let you know just after new years.
