Hi, Luke.
I would like to upgrade my '00 E320 to 18" wheels with 245/40-18 size tires.

I went through your website and have few questions.

Wheels: I need to choose between OZ Opera 1pc and BBS CH and need to know their weight to help in my selection:

1. 18x8 OZ Opera I
18x9 OZ Opera I (rear only?)
2. 18x8.5 BBS CH.

Tires: size 245/40-18 all around. Need to choose between:

1. Sumitomo HTRS II
2. Yokohama AVS DB
3. Michelin XGT Z4

Please, rate these tires 1, 2, 3, in your opinion, in each of the following criteria:

A. Ride comfort (currently running 235/45-17 Dunlop Sp5000 on stock 5-spoke sport wheels and like the ride very much).

B. Resistance to flat spotting when not driven for few days.

C. Directional stability in wet/dry.

D. Is Sumitomos the only one on the list with "rim protection"?

E. Will NOT be used in snow, so all-season factor is not an issue, but wet driving is.

F. Finally, which of the 3 above will most likely to resemble 17" 235/45-17 Sp5000 in ride, while improving handling and follow road imperfections the least.

Thank you, in advance, for answering all my questions.

I would put the tires in this order following your requirements
1.) AVS DB
2.) Sumitomo's HTRZ II
3.) Pilot XGT Z4

the wheel weights are:
BBS CH 23lbs.
OZ opera 8" 27lbs.
OZ Opera 9" 28.5lbs.

Thanks, Luke

235/40/18 is the correct size however, not 245/40/18.

I know, but 245/40-18 in general is within 2% of 235/40-18 and Pilot XGT Z4 in 245/40-18 is less then 1%. Not an issue. After all E55 uses this size.

Only because of rim width I believe...

No. E55 uses AMG Mono II 18x8 ET31 upfront with 245/40-18.
