Curb Scrap Repair

Anyone know what is involved with the repair of a fairly deep curb scrap. I dropped off my C320 to the dealer last week and a porter ran the wheel into the a curb, scratching about 1/4 of the wheel. The dealer has agreed to repair (not replace) the wheel. I am skeptical about this and think they should replace the wheel, but, am open to seeing if a repair can restore the wheel.

Anyone have any experiences with alloy wheel repair, and if it is worth it or not. Should I just pressue the dealer for a new alloy?

Thanx.

I have used a wheel repair shop at one time when one dark night I inadvertently hit a cast iron water main cover that was carelessly left in the street by a construction worker. The wheel was severely bent AND scraped.

I took the wheel to this repair shop and for $25, they had it looking brand new!

I will say though, that this was a polished alloy, so I don't know if the gunmetal color of some rims can be restored to like-new condition...

I've used a wheel repair service for a set of four 8-hole wheels that were all scraped, dinged, etc.

They came out perfect.

Ashman has used a wheel repair service, too, recently and posted about it.

Try asking him, too.
