I know what you are referring to, but the locking nuts just make your wheels harder to steal, not impossible.

You can buy the socket unit that allows you to remove locking nuts, but a thief would look pretty conspicuous doing so.

My local Trac Auto sells that wheel lock removal tool to anyone. It is in the display case with the wheels locks.

For OEM Mercedes wheels only the dealer will have them. For aftermarket wheels you can get wheel locks at auto stores and also Tire Rack.

The Mercedes wheel locks are made by McGard yes, but finding them at Trak Auto, Auto Zone or Pep Boys type stores may be difficult. Most if not all Mercedes wheels have a "round" or "ball" seat which is rare.

moraine, Where is a McGard Dealer?

Believe it or not but when I was a "ricer" in 1992, I was soooo anal and paranoid to make sure my 16 inch Anteras would not get stolen, I had ALL locks for my lugs and although the car was eventually stolen when the wife brought it to Atlanta and when the police finally DID find it, the bastards couldn't take any of the wheels and only got away with the sound system (actually only the radio because I had the amps hidden and I guess they couldn't find them, heh) and I was even able to replace the covers for the wheels that conceiled the lugs and sell the wheels for more than I paid for them.

You may not want to go THAT overboard but hey...

Whatever happened to the Weds or Wedsport wheelocks. They had them for Mercedes as well as for Japanese wheels back in the early to mid 90s. They were two wheel locks in one. The outer shell was a magnetic wheel lock which just turned around unless, you had the magnetic key. Then, underneath was another wheel lock similar to Gorilla Wheel locks that you needed another key to take off. They were usually black that I have seen and owned. Those I could trust. The only problem was if you had hubs covering the wheel lugs then, you could not use this product only, exposed lug only. It was about tad longer but, not really that noticeable maybe about 1/10" longer or less. I did a web search because I really want those wheel locks again and the company's website is all in Japanese. Can't seem to find them there but, it is for the wheels.
