cheater slicks

As I install my ARS defeat, and the drag racing season is approaching here in Indy, I am wondering about DOT-approved slicks for my '92 500E. I don't need them to be on for the drive from home to the dragstrip, but the track requires DOT-approved slicks for the street-legal series. I will probably acquire an extra pair of factory 16' 8-hole wheels for them, or just use two of my snow tire wheels. Any suggestions or experience with brands/sizes/etc.?

Racing slicks that are designed for a road course have very stiff sidewall....not a good thing

However, they are made with a very sticky compound so that's a good thing....

Not sure what sizes are available off the top of my head but a drag based tire for this specific purpose will work best....something that is sticky but has a softer sidewall for the wrinkle and "stick" on launch.

Your best bet is to call Luke and see what options he may be able to source....

You might also look at NItto (think they might have one that is a street/strip hybrid) and of course hoosier (their slicks kick some serious butt)

Hope this helps,
Lee

PS Make sure your diff is up and ready....w'o asr it can take some stress at the drags. 2 street tires is probably stickier than one slick.....
