Squeaking noise

Started last week after I had the oil change and fuel system update on my 98 ML. Occasionally, there is a high pitch squeaking noise (sounds like brake squeaking)coming from the belt/pulley area. I know it's not the a/c compressor since the noise persist even when I turn the a/c off. Nor it's coming from the brakes, the noise exists when the truck is stationary. Is there any part (pulley, crankshaft pulley, etc) needs some lubrication? The truck drives fine though. Any thoughts.

Maybe the belt tensioner and it's getting ready to sieze and shred the belt and leave you stranded. To be on the safe side have it checked right away especially if it's never been replaced.

I really don't understand your question.

I did not change my tensioner. I was in the middle of installing a new A/C compressor, expansion valve and receiver/dryer in my 300E. I was out getting some parts for that job when the ML stranded me. So I called the dealer and told them if they would come get my ML, fix it and get it back to me in the afternoon they could do the job. They had it back to me in 5 hours which includes them having it towed to the dealer. And yes it was expensive, my dealer charges much more for parts than MSRP, but the problem went away real fast when I needed it to.

"Torque to spec" is the correct answer.

Gilly, what would be the spec? How much ft/lb or Nm do I need to apply?

Thanks for any info, I plan to do it this weekend.

Maybe someone knows this for sure, as I don't have the info readily available. I believe 20nm would be appropriate tho......
