Routine Maintenance

Did the following work the past couple of days as I had time:

Spark Plugs (Bosch Platinum +4)
Front Diff Fluid (Redline 75w-90 synthetic)
Read Diff Fluid (Redline 75w-90 synthetic)
Transfer Case (Redline ATF systhetic)

Gotta love not having to jack a car to work underneath! Fluid work was very straight-forward.

Spark plugs were kind of a pain, the pax side was easier than the drivers side, which was the opposite of what i expected. 2 hours for the plugs working slowly. Careful levering the metal boots out, I broke one. That was a bit nerve racking, but I got it sorted out. WD-40 on the metal boots is a must to loosen.

I pity the fools who wait to 100k to replace, as mine were already starting to rust to the head @ 50k. Save yourself alot of heartache in the future, use anti-sieze on those new plugs!

For those that missed this in the past, see the attachments.

Hey dickie!

Where did you get those pages? Is there a manual available? I see more DIY'ing my out-of-warranty ML in my crystal ball...

Pages

Are the pages too small for all to "save as" and print out?

Lemme know and I will email to all who want them.

Update: I did the coolant change following Gilly's write up here. Easy job. If you skip the block, 1 gal Mercedes coolant and 1 gal distilled water are good for the job. I also turkey basted the brake reservoir and refilled with Castrol GT DOT 3/4+ fluid for the second time since I bought the ML in June. Poor mans/kluge way to change the brake fluid.

Those pages look like they're from a magazine article. I'm still in search of a manual for my friend's 98 ML320 much like my W124 CD manual. He has a number of body electrical issues that need to be diagnosed. I can't do it without a manual. Why isn't one available for the DIYer with a 7-year-old model?

You still need to pump the fluid out all the bleeder valves, otherwise you're only changing the fluid in the reservoir. Same procedure as for cars without ABS. Turkey baster just means you waste less new fluid in doing this.

printable versions?

Hey there - that's a cool resource. Any chance of getting a version that I can print? Maybe save as an attachment?
