Brake pads F&R same part?

When I look up the parts in FastLane, I don't see a differentiation in front and rear pads. Are they the same parts? When you select any pad set for the 2000 ML320, they say "Note: rear" on the top of the item list page.

Front & Rear use the same pads?

No, they are different. And, while I found an exact duplicate Mintex available for the front (and they are great!) The rear Mintex were not manufactured exactly the same (missing a protrusion that fit into the caliper) so I went with an OEM pad (too much dust).

They are different part numbers: For a 2000 ML320 the front pads are 163 420 03 20 and the rears are 163 420 05 20.
