Could it be the fuel pump?

Waiting for my CSP to arrive, my dealer also suggested it could be the fuel pump, causing my odd start problem. I am thinking why would the pump work today, do the stop working, start 15 minutes later, run for 10 days, then die again etc, same as CPS symptoms? Has anyone experienced a fuel pump failure, and if so, what were the symptoms? I always thought they would just die and thats it, not a slow process.
