Cruise control quit
The cruise control on my 98 ML320 stopped working. Tried to set it on the highway and nothing happened. It worked two days prior.
I checked the fuse...looked OK..replaced it...no luck. Anything else to look for before I take it to the shop? Thanks in advance. |

My "guess" would be the brake light switch on the brake pedal. They are notorious for going bad and you will likely get a ABS/BAS light. If the switch is intermittently failing, this would signal to the cruise to switch off.

I disagree on the brake switch (let us know what the problem was though). My thought is probably the cruise switch itself, I've replaced a couple of these. They are available seperate from the combi switch. These days (or even THOSE days) the cruise is pretty well integrated into the engine controls, especially with an electronic accelerator like this, not much to go wrong unless it's something that'll keep the engine running.
