Does the gage go back up towards full after a few miles? Haven't had it happen on our ML, but the C280 always does it when I top it up. It sure is weird watching the gage rise as you drive!

To fix this, I think the tank has to come out. That's what they told me on the C280. It's just an anoyance to me.

I just fill it up and only round up to the next 50 cents. Then I don't have the problem.

If your cluster shows full after a few minutes then, it's normal.
The fuel level sensor signal is dampened by the cluster so your fuel gauge doesn't bounce up and down on inclines.
If it bugs you, your dealer can change the instrument cluster version coding to "direct sensor value".
This is only for ML's.

Think the dealer is expensive? Do you know how much it costs to train a dealer tech? Or buy the required MB special tools to have on hand?

Forte

Guys i have had similar troubles with w202 and r129, i have used Forte gas treatment on bot and has sorted the problem out on the w202 as this was a while ago. Used on r129 last fill up few days ago so fingers crossed.
stick in the contents before you fill up then top up to the brim, this worked on the w202 worth a go.

Regards

Raj
