I can tell you that I had an issue in that the first time I did this job because I thought the large o-ring was to be pushed all the up to the top of the stalk against the bottom of the filter housing - this is INcorrect and caused oil to fly out upon starting.
The correct spot for the large o-ring is a slot where it fits "naturally" just above the threads, just below the very top (bottom of filter housing) of the stalk. Then, screw the filter down all the way flush to mate with the engine side of the housing.
