wow, I really need help with this P0715er...

Ok, I am working on my 1999 Mercedes ML430 and am stuck between a rock and a hard place, so any help would be much appreciated! The wagon threw a P0715... which we all know to be the turbine speed sensor A circut right? Well I was advised that it could be the electronics in the trans so, I replaced the electric plate located behind the valve body with a brand new one from the dealer. While I was at it I threw a new filter in there as well, but thats neither here nor there at this point. To make a long story short, it is still throwing the code and will not let me out of limp mode...ie 2nd and reverse gears. I was told this also could be an input shaft speed sensor or an output shaft sensor...does anyone know if and where they are located?

Thanks for the help!

Charlie

Charlie,
You did EVERY thing correctly except that code is still STUCK in the trans computer & needs to be erased from there! YOU are seeing the check engine code from the fuel computer

Ok, has anyone heard of the transmission control module going bad? I kinda have a feeling the shop is taking me for a ride... I drove the truck to the shop in limp mode, 15 miles at 3500 rpm and 30 mph...that was fun in itself... with the intention of getting the code erased from the trans cpu. He says that the trans cpu is bad because it wont except a new flash...but wouldnt this render the truck undriveable? I am confused, because the cpu is still allowing function, ie, limp mode and stability control, sport mode, etc... Its still only throwing the P0715 code.

Any help would again be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Charlie

Yes, it is possible for a trans computer to go bad. Was that shop able to "read" trans codes??? & if yes what were the codes??

That trans computer DOESN'T have re-flash capabilities!

I'm seeing the same situation with a '99 E320 with 57k miles. Is this error code typically caused by the electric plate located behind the valve body? Will reading the tranny codes provide more insight?
