GWagen 5 Speed Trans Part# or Photo Request

Hello all, I am not usually in this forum but does anyone with a G wagen have a photograph or part number for a 5 speed transmission that would be mated with a 280GE? I have a possible lead on the trans and engine and need to verify it with a part number or a photo.

The seller is somewhat technically declined

Thanks!

Not sure what's a "hen's teeth", but the 280GE starter is on the passenger side of the engine.

The hen's teeth reference is from the diesel forum.

Thanks for digging that information up by the way

I verified the trans as the one you specified. I am awaiting to see if I can get the price I want for it and or if I can get the parts to bolt it up to my project W115 car which I would like to change from a 4 speed manual to the 5 speed.

Dutch, since you had the 280GE.....do you know what the gear ratios would have been for the 717.421 in a 1986 gwagen?

Go here:

http://www.g4rce.net/engl/models-w460.html

Click on the Technical Data for the 280GE. The gear ratios for the 5-speed Getrag transmission are listed.
