2000 ML320 Rear Tailgate Inner Panel Removal
The rear tailgate cargo handle assembly on my 2000 ML320 has failed (unlocks but does not lock unless you perform manually) and needs to be replaced. I have searched to see if the procedure for inner door panel removal has been posted but cannot find.
Can anyone provide a description of this panel removal? Last edited by BenzBob; 05-24-2008 at 11:42 AM. Reason: clarification |

Sounds like exactly what I went through with my 99 ML 320. Read this:

Thanks for the information Sunedog! I looked at my inner door panel and have two questions.
Do you just pull out on the lower side if the inner panel to remove? Also, there are two plastic pins (one on each side of the top of the inner panel) that connect to the trim around the rear window...do these just pull out also? Will be talking to Phil at Fastlane this week after the holiday to order the necessary parts. |

Take your time. I actually damaged a couple of the plastic clip holders on the inside of the inner panel. And I never could get the cap that covers the rear brake light to stay on. Finally had to silicone it on.
