99 ML430 Sun Roof Problem

Hey guys I am new to this web site and just bought a 1999 ML430 and the sun roof has a broken bracket near the rear of the car. I just need to find out how to get the thing closed its been raining and i have the thing open and rain is getting in. I took it to Riverside MB and they said about $1200 to $2000 to fix it. I am using the car as a canine search and rescue car so i could care less if it doesnt work anymore i just want to get it closed. If anyone can help let me know. I am in Orange County and the Inland Empire thanks
Bruce

Does the ML have a regular roof OR a Sky-roof?

I have 2003 ML 320 and the moonroof will not operate. I have it in the closed position, When I operate the switch I hear no noise and no movement. I have checked the fuse and is okay. Does it sound like the switch is bad? How do I remove the trim around the switch so that I can check with Multimeter?
