What year?
Many of the 00-01 cars had cluster issues.

Mine does the same thing. It's an 02. The rest of the gauges work fine. Any advice appreciated.

Wasn't there one with some software issue where the gauge was "averaging", so to speak ? I remember something to that effect.

2001 ML55 fuel gauge problem
I have found it seems to start working after you make about 5 or 6 trips. turning the key on and of does not fix the problem. you actually have to drive the car for some reason.
