Thank you for the replies. The car will not restart immediately but if left for a minute or two will instantly restart as if nothing has happened and will drive right off. The keychain thing is a good thought but if the car is tried right away after the stall it just turns over and over and will not restart. We had installed a new fuel filter about ten thousand miles ago but not a pump. I would think that a pump failure would show in a code reading.

This is the same thing our ML was doing for a couple weeks. We were at a point of having the dealer diagnose the problem, because I checked everything I could myself and couldn't find the problem. And the day before we were going to take it in, it died and wouldn't restart. Everything indicated it should run, spark, fuel pressure, ect, but it wouldn't start. The dealer found the short in the ignition switch...

If AdvisorGuy will reply with the recommended fix, it may help with your issue.
