W163 door lock

Need some advice regarding door lock for my 2002 ML270 (australian).
Right rear door lock part numbers...
163 730 2235
and
163 730 2435

Is there a difference between these two parts or just simply a case of one number superseding another ?
I found both these numbers on the russian site.
My local dealer insists that I must use the 2235 part.

No one seems to have the 2235 part in stock, but lots of places have the 2435 part in stock.
Why would there be two different door locks for basically the same chassis/door setup.?

VIN number WDC1631132A292*** (last three digits omitted)

Would appreciate some input before I take the plunge and order the wrong part.
many thanks

Confused about door locks W163

Wonder why they've made two different versions of a lock (one for USA and one for rest of the world) that goes into the same door of the same body shape vehicle... W163 2002 model
Not wishing to argue or disagree... just confused and wondering why..?
Is there a reason that there should be two different versions of this lock...(or is it just two different part numbers pertaining to the same lock)?

cheers

The USA has many different safety regulations that other countries don't have.
The rear door locks on the ML are USA specific!
We have so many that it is hard to keep up with!

Does your ML have child locks on the rear??? OURS don't!
