GWagon Headlight removal

I have a 2003 G500 that I need to replace the broken headlamp any tips on how to remove the casing around the light so I can access the screws to remove the unit?

There is a screw at the bottom of the headlight surround. Start by removing that, then remove the plastic cover (It has sliding tabs) There are several screws holding the light in place.

Here is a more detailed description that goes over an upgrade but it shows the correct steps with pictures.

That's a W460; and he's asking about a W463.

The W463 has two (2) Philips head screws at the bottom of the surround right about bumper level. Loosen, but don't remove them. Slide the surround up to free it from the screws and the hook tabs at the top. You will then have access to the screws that hold the headlight in place.

If you have the brush guard, you'll need to drop it forward first to get good access to everything.

Yep I know. I used the same pictures to guide me through a W463 bulb replacement last year. The basics are pretty much the same. (Thankfully) To be honest when I did it lowering and then raising the brush bar turned into the biggest hassle.

Two simple fasteners turned 90 degrees to release with the special tool? No hassle at all, in my experience.
