Put a plow on a G-Wagen

Crazy question perhaps but thought I'd ask those in the know; I'm a benz fan in need of a truck plow for personal use at a building we own, not outside customers. And I'd like a G-wagen so wondering if these could be combined - tell me I'm nuts or not, no problem

Just starting the search...

The answer is "Yes". It's done frequently in Europe.

I wonder if one would have to disconnect the air bag sensor on the front bumper?

Interesting!

Snow plow aside what's the recommendation as far as model years to look at for a used G?

2004 or newer, unless you're asking about the older style not imported by MBUSA.

Dutch, I am asking about the older style becuase I am not looking to spend a lot of money and use it more for working and recreation than luxury and long trips.

Not sure what you meant as far as pre 2004, as I thought these had been around the US for longer that that, no? Now the question might be how easy will it be to find an older style...which I have noticed are not all that plentiful when I poke around the sales sites.

MBUSA started to officially import them in the 2002 model year. Before then, there were some individual importers (I did one personally myself in 1984); but the majority were brought in by Europa Int'l in Santa Fe, NM. That company is now defunct, although their head salesman is still selling some on a consignment, referral or finder's fee basis. He's in the Colorado Springs area.

They show up fairly regularly on Ebay; and here is a website that has classified only for the G in the USA:

http://www.clubgwagen.com/classifieds/vehicleads.php

There's another forum where a lot of the older Gwagen owners hang out, and older G's often show up for sale there on a word of mouth basis. Contact me by PM or email, if you need that info; as it wouldn't be polite to post it here.
