I'm pretty sure you're right (A number of 617 turbo conversions have been done though)


I drove a NA 617 300GD that was a SWB with a manual and I thought it had plenty of power. Skip foward though to a later W463 300GD LWB automatic and it was a completely different matter.....

I would imagine that a 240GD would probably feel similar.
