tailgate rattle
help ..
my dealer can not seem to locate a rattle that seems to be near or in the tailgate. has anyone had a similar issue. if so, how was it resolved. it is a brand new ML500, M3. M5 with Bose. I know ill have to live with some creaking but this is obviously from inside the car and its not normal .... |

Does the dealer deny the problem exists? Dealers need to be careful in regards to Lemon Law in attempting to repair something they can't verify is happening. The early models had problems with the rear latch, however a change to the latch design in/around 2000 model years seems to have made this type of complaint disappear. I would insist on a ride with the service manager to demonstrate the noise and tell them you want a loaner or a rental car (at MB expense) until it is fixed. They are liable in most states to fix a demonstrated problem.
