99 ml no start

My ML is having an intermittent no start. It stopped about 3 weeks ago but restarted. I drove it a couple weeks but felt at times a little hesitation. Two days ago is stopped again this time i couldn't restart it..

1. when I turned the key to restart – absolutely nothing

2. I removed the key, replaced and tried again… nothing… no cranking… nothing.

3. I had no power windows and no power door locks. Had radio.

4. I did not have the usual array of dash board lights……. Just 2

5. the car was towed to the shop and of course has started ever since! No codes off the scanner.

6. After reading the forum I found a guy with a similar sounding problem suggested fix was circuit 15 relay. My tech says no because of the absolute lack of anything when I tried to started it immediately after the failure. He says if it were a relay it would at least turn over. Same with a crank position sensor... it would at least crank but I had nothing.

Any ideas would be appreciated. I’m kind of ready to just have him start throwing parts in even if we don’t have a clear diagnosis. I don’t want to be without the car for however long it takes for it to fail for him.
thanks
