I've done a few of these. The 2000 did not have Teleaid yet, so the antenna has to be added to the rear of the roof, but it's all set to add it. It's been awhile since I did a 2000, I can't recall if there is an antenna splitter needed or not, for some reason I don't think so, only when you get into a 2001 (Teleaid vehicle) that this step was required. The bulk of the installation is removing the MCS unit, then the nav unit with cd-rom reader is basically a drop-in procedure, quite simple. One small thing that a dealer will need to attend to is to set up the internal configuration of the MCS unit to reflect the addition of the nav system. This just involves programming the MCS with the diagnosis system (SDS or Star Diagnosis System computer).
Let me know if you need further info.

Thanks Gilly...

So if I understand you correctly, installation would simply involve adding the nav unit to the MCS--but it would only be operational if I have the dealer program it via SDS. Is this correct?

Thanks.

Right, and to the best of my memory, also adding the GPS antenna on the roof, which is pre-wired. If the truck has a (factory) phone installed, the antenna may be compatable, I think they only had 1 type of antenna that was good for phone and GPS. As far as the programming, I'm pretty sure you need to get that done or it won't work, not sure on that since I'm a dealer guy, it always got programmed and it always worked.

GW:
I'm sorry, I just noticed this is an 02, i thought it was 2000. Yes, there is a splitter under the passenger front seat. Uhhhh. Right now, i can't remember on a 2002 if that needs to be modified or not. I have the instructions at work I'd need to look at. The antenna is there already though due to the Teleaid. MCS still needs to be reprogrammed for the internal configuration of adding the Nav though.
