Mercedes Authorized Emissions Modification
It's getting down to the wire, claims must be filed by Oct 1. I have been going back and forth on this, my 2010 Sprinter is running superb at 64K and I hate to hand it over to the dealer for this emissions "fix". On the other hand I will receive the cash, but more importantly the extra 4 years warranty on all emissions related parts. A new EGR valve alone is near a grand.
Anyone here with an older OM642 that has had it done? Experiences? edit: I just looked at the warranty and it's not what I thought it was, many related parts are only warranted for 6/6,000. Seems only the parts they install are 48/48,000? edit #2 I mis-understood the warranty, 30 items are warranted for 4 years/48K miles while some of those items have an additional 6 month/6,000 or 12 month/12,000 mile or 24/24 warranty on top of the 4/48. Expensive things are covered like the turbo, egr valve, DPF, intake and swirl valves etc etc. I made my appointment today. I guess there's not too many OM642 owners here.
