Mercedes Authorized Emissions Modification

It's getting down to the wire, claims must be filed by Oct 1. I have been going back and forth on this, my 2010 Sprinter is running superb at 64K and I hate to hand it over to the dealer for this emissions "fix". On the other hand I will receive the cash, but more importantly the extra 4 years warranty on all emissions related parts. A new EGR valve alone is near a grand.
Anyone here with an older OM642 that has had it done? Experiences?

edit: I just looked at the warranty and it's not what I thought it was, many related parts are only warranted for 6/6,000. Seems only the parts they install are 48/48,000?

edit #2 I mis-understood the warranty, 30 items are warranted for 4 years/48K miles while some of those items have an additional 6 month/6,000 or 12 month/12,000 mile or 24/24 warranty on top of the 4/48. Expensive things are covered like the turbo, egr valve, DPF, intake and swirl valves etc etc. I made my appointment today. I guess there's not too many OM642 owners here.

Any way you look at it the AEM is a big win for owners of affected vehicles. I can't think of a single reason to not do it.....

Thanks, I am hoping you are correct. The one downside is that the older models (which includes mine) have been reported to have numerous issues after the AEM resulting check engine lights, LHM and the dreaded "10 starts remaining". When this happens you must locate a MB dealer that works on motorhomes which are few and far between. Also a few have reported failure of non-covered items shortly after the AEM, like the DEF level sensor which is not included in the warranty and to fix requires an entire new DEF tank since they only come as a unit with no replaceable parts. It's a $1,800-$2,500 repair.

The class action suit ran out on October 1 2022. However since MBUSA recognized that there were significant parts shortages they took it back upon themselves to compensate anyone who missed this deadline. The new deadline is December 31, 2022.

I got an email about this the other day. Note that if you submitted your paperwork to the lawyer (before the deadline) you can't double dip and claim this one too. This is to catch those who missed the October 1 deadline.

I nearly missed the deadline on mine because the dealer took FOREVER to get me in for service. I requested service on April 7th 2022, the day the AEM was released for my 2013 E350 Bluetec, they finally took it in on September 21st, and it took until September 29th to get it done.

Text copied and pasted from the email:

I got my Sprinter in on Tuesday 9/19 and it was finished on Friday AM 9/23 giving me a week to file. Submitted everything and so far Sprinter is running fine. Transmission shifting is a little rough but to be expected with the new ECM and hopefully will adapt with time.
I can't find anything online about the new deadline, wonder if it applies to all of the classes?
